THE GATE TO THE MIND'S EYE
Featuring the music of Thomas Dolby
Miramar Images

Thomas Dolby, of "Blinded Me With Science" fame, does the music for this computer animation film.  The nine animated scenes on this DVD were created in 1994, so they are not state-of-the-art. For a low priced disc, however, they are very entertaining. Dolby's soundtrack gels perfectly with the graphics, and despite the animations being six years old, they hold up fairly well by today's standards. Unfortunately, it seems as if the transfer to the DVD format was not well done. The images tend to be slightly blurred and fuzzy, which makes me wonder if the source was a VHS tape. This is disappointing considering the crisp graphical capabilities of DVD, but since the price on this disc is around $5.00, I would recommend it as a good starter for your DVD collection.                     Jeff Muendel
