Layered with acid-friendly quirks and thick, psychedelic textures, Tripping Daisy's music is tailor-made for surround-sound and headphones. In other words, there's more going on than just the songs. Tripping Daisy turns over-production into an art form. Flaming Lips comparisons will no doubt haunt the band forever (is someone from Flaming Lips in this band??), but even if Tripping Daisy is just a Flaming Lips rip-off band, at least they're a darn good one. They've got the Lips' flair for start/stop dynamics and the Lips' occasional Beach Boys jones (so popular these days!). Is it likable stuff? YES. Is it timeless stuff? Who knows. Probably not.
