Dayzie Head Mayzie
Moon Services
(Slave One Records)
Hey everybody! Bein’ the Publisher and all, I almost never write CD reviews. In fact, this is my first. I wrote it because I truly love the honest creativity I find in Moon Services’ ten tracks. The CD is actually the first DHM demo, which was recorded in a friend’s basement as a pre-production tape. (Did I mention the tape was mixed at Smart Studios?) The songs aren’t perfect - they were never meant to be. They do, however, show the creative innards of a great songwriter at work. Brad Van, singer/songwriter for DHM, has a simple approach: simplicity, something to say, great riffs, a knack for arranging and killer rhythms! Something that reminded me a little of Kurt Cobain, though DHM’s music is not at all like Nirvana’s. What can I say, the CD is packed with good songs front to back. Listen to the CD with a producer’s ear and you’ll get a lot of enjoyment. And don’t forget their self-titled debut CD is also still available. Check the local stores or get a hold of Brad at daisynet@aol.com... And catch their web link on our bands page at www.maximum-ink.com in the resources section.
