Doorslammer
Doorslammer
(Prisoner Of Consciousness)
Doorslamer has the disposition of a California punker whose heart is still somewhere in the Midwest. As energetic as a gearhead with a pit pass, this record shows a band that clearly despises pigeonholes. Doorslammer may be uneven, but the fellas are never boring. Doorslammer is at its best when it sticks to smart-ass punk toss-offs, like the spontaneous “Confused” and “(Oh) I Get It.” “Madison” and “Tracthome Hillside” are rousing mid-tempo numbers, with the former describing an experience in our fair city: “Getting high on some kind of mushroom in a town full of freaks...” Obviously, Doorslammer means that as a compliment, since they are one of the fine bands playing at the Maximum Ink Birthday Party on March 19 (at the Mango Grill). What do you mean you’re not going? Free party treats just don’t  come along every day!
