First and foremost, Electric Wizard is an acid band, not some psychedelic beat-off noodle outfit. I know the hippycrite rip is easy, but there’s still some bean-fed granolas out there trying to tell me that thirty minutes of the Allman’s “Mountain Jam” is the shit. If yer searching for in-touch-with-the-earth dance music, look elsewhere, Sunshine. This one-song 18-minute slab is for people who dig the Heep, Hawkwind and Budgie. (The Sabbath references should already be obvious to you.) These bands knew a bad trip was inevitable. With such extrodianry sleeve design from legendary artist (and Man’s Ruin main man) Frank Kozik, you have to wonder which came first, the cover art or the band? Either way, you’re set for the next wave of British Heavy Metal.
