Heave 6 12oz Songs 7" (Rise and Fall) It's good to see one of Madison's own putting out a scrappy, ornery punk record. Heave has been around for four years, and they're still not legal drinking age. It's not often you see guys this young keep a band together, but hipsters and trend-followers they ain't. These boys have their hearts firmly planted on their sleeves, and it shows in the album's packaging. You get six ripping punk tunes, and an outstanding Wisconsin beer-flavored sleeve and booklet to boot. Sounding a bit like an early '80s post-punk outfiit, the guys add their own faster, tighter rhythms and nastier, frenzied guitar and vocals. Heave tackles forever lingering problems like idiots within the scene, mental slavery and general apathy. They back up the talk with action and have proof of their hard work on this vinyl document. Pick this one up. Magnus Watt |
