Andre Williams Silky (In The Red) After a hiatus that's lasted through the '90s, Andre "Mr. Rhythm" Williams is back, and not a moment too soon. With all of the post-modern Garbage we're forced to endure, Mr. Williams' sex, corn liquor and raw rock 'n roll approach is both crucial and tireless. You could say that the 60 or 70-Something Williams is the anti- Lillihordavapaloozer. He cures the boredom without reassuring hugs or fat-pants nose ring angst. If you think this is some gravy train effort to expose and exploit some old timer who's past his prime, guess again. The song titles alone should be enough evidence. Silky features "Boomin'," "Bring Me Back My Car Unstripped," "I Wanna Be Your Favorite Pair of Pajamas," "Only Black Man in South Dakota," and my personal favorite, "Pussy Stank," which has the best chorus on the album. Oh, yeah--he's also backed by the baddest motherfuckin' R&B pigs on the planet, Mick Collins and Danny Kroha (of Gories fame), ensuring that all twelve cuts are instant classics. Nobody can touch this. These guys can do it all, from country to R&B to garage trash. This is the pure, unadulterated shit you have been waiting for and must have. "Pussy stank but so do marijuana," words to live by. Magnus Watt |
