Cylinder
Check Your Messages
(self-release)
Kicking off their five-song CD with savage thunder and a solid rock delivery, Cylinder's Check Your Messages comes off pretty much as their tooled metal name would suggest - pumped-up and ready to roar. Guitarist Al Weiers, bassist Tracy Sprain and drummer Chris Hallet never let up for the twenty minutes they have you, surrendering their identities in, "Be What You Want," and asking for them back in, "Killing Me."  Singeing solos sail through sonic squalor while passion's fury trips double-time in rapid fire succession. Twangy riffs blow past rhythmic triplets and double fisted bass. Whether calling out for love or swiping at modern day oppression, Cylinder talks from the heart with lyrics suited to their streamlined sound - brief and to the point - without falling on cliches or worn-out metaphors. Recorded in Minneapolis, Check Your Messages is a hot blast of molten music burning with restless defiance, waiting to lunge out
and take no prisoners.
