Hum Machine The Trance Voltage Solution (Cancer Records) This quartet calls Madison, Wisconsin home, but they are making a splash nationally through touring and airplay. Their second album is straight-ahead hard rock with a lot of melody. The manic opening track, "Technopologies" has very little techno in it and a lot of aggressive guitar, setting the tone for the rest of the CD. The one mellow track is "Phinias Gauge," which is mostly acoustic and well placed in the middle of the album, giving the listener a deserved chance to catch their breath. Hum Machine play locally quite often but also tour the entire country. Catch them while you can. See their webpage at: www.link-here.com/hummachine. Jeff Muendel |
