Dieselhed
Shallow Water Blackout
(Amarillo)
From America’s most underrated label, Amarillo Records, comes Dieselhed. C’mon… You know about Amarillo. It’s the label that brought you such ear candy as Winners of the World’s Worst Rap Competition (“incompetent, shitty rap. A terrible record”) and Pint-Sized Spartacus (a “concept album loosely based on the film Spartacus but with the added twists of mental problems, Lucky Luciano, and the white slave trade in India”). Amarillo’s own Dieselhed isn’t as “out there” as those chart-topping mega-hits, but it’s pretty cool stuff. Basically, when you think of Dieselhed, think backwoods country and western set amongst the scenic splendor of redneck Appalachia. There your drinking compadres are toothless, moonshine-guzzling mountain folk and loose, manic-depressive women. What makes things interesting is that Dieselhed’s versatile enough to appeal to the tame Uncle Tupelo-type crowd and the wake-up-drunk-on-the-bathroom-floor Nashville Pussy crowd. Good stuff. Buy it. Buy it. Buy it. Buy it.
