My instincts tell me to hate this band. After all, I look at the press photo and see three knot-heads dolled up in foolishly un-hip indie-rock regalia. And, also, I generally hate bands with “play on words”-style names. But hell, when it’s just me and the music, removed from skin-deep, superficial complaints, I gotta say there’s some alright shit going on here. Calvin Krime may be tender hatchlings, but they’re probably Am-Rep’s most melodically diverse band (not counting the Melvins). Plus, Attractive’s a step up from the Minnesota group’s ‘97 debut, Dress For the Future. Not bad, not bad…
