Harvey Danger
Where have all the merrymakers gone?
(Slash)
OK. There’s nothing inherently wrong with GBV, Pavement, or Sebadoh. But there IS something wrong with bands that site the three as influences. Such is the case with Harvey Danger, the newest face on the totem pole of squish-heads known as indie-rock. This record is so bland and mundane, I’m fucking crying. Tears are spilling out of my fucking eyes. On merrymakers’ “Wooly Muffler,” lead vocalist Sean Nelson sings “Won’t you do us all a favor / And keep it to yourself.” Nelson and his band of dolts and bunglers would be wise to follow their own lyrical advice. I’m fucking crying… Where have all the merrymakers gone, Harvey? Obviously they’re not in Seattle, where this imbecilic group of toads is from.
