Role Models For Amerika

This self-proclaimed dyke band from San Francisco conjure up fast, sassy punk songs that glorify sex and queerness. While the band is very in-your-face, they somehow keep a sense of humor about their lesbianism and themselves as a rock ‘n’ roll group. Claiming to have met at a dyke escort service, they decided to form a band because “everyone knows women don’t have to pay for sex.” Since work was therefore quite slow, they decided to take a shot at being rock stars.
Tribe 8 put out their first 7” in 1992 and have since put out eight discs, including Role Models For Amerika. This year they will tour as the opening act for the Spice Girls and one can only imagine the torrid backstage fuck antics going on there! I imagine this talented, aggressive, street-wise band will show the corporate project known as the Spice Girls a thing or two on- and off-stage.
