This is another collection from the people at Irma Records. Historically, they’ve put out great sampler CDs of their own and other companies’ artists, ranging from slow, thick house mixes to speedy, simplistic drum/bass compilations. This disc is no exception. With bands like Maux, Science Force, Datura, and Skin4, you may not recognize every song. You will, however, be drawn to the rapid, pulsating beats that pleasantly infest the album. I admit that, like many electronica fans, I don’t keep up with all the rhetorical subcategories of the genre, and so I can’t comment on weather this is or isn’t good “Techno Breakbeat.” All I know is that this is exciting and original music that is well-recorded and sequenced.
