ROCK*A*TEENS Sweet Bird Of Youth Merge Records www.therockateens.com
Ok I admit, the Rock*A*Teens' lead vocalist, Chris Lopez, desperately needs some real good vocal lessons by an instructor that teaches real good Puccini compositions. Their new album "Sweet Bird of Youth" sounds like a dysfunctional Rock "N" Roll circus complete with the freaky side show acts, lame-ass animal tricks and all the drunken clowns you can ask for. The entire entity of the album seems to be saturated with more drug infested "trippin" sounds and less "rockin" going on, a factor that we highly include when trying to figure out the band's name. Although their previous albums were known for being difficult to explain, "Sweet bird of Youth" is the one album that definitely epitomizes the term "un-categorization," but lets not over-look the lust and passion that these guys put into their work, which makes this album somewhat enticing.
