ACETONE
York Blvd
Vapor Records
www.vaporrecords.com/acetone.htm

The sweet, often lonesome sounds of Acetone's latest disc, "York Blvd." mixes slow burn urban guitar grit with an unfettered imagination that takes one part pop charm to three parts introspective majesty.  A bold seriousness wraps itself around the slippery riffs and direct lyrics, delivering a variety pack of emotions that ranges from callused and unconscious to pop rock exuberant.  Imagine "Day Tripper" meets "Radar Love" in a backlash of simmering feedback served with a side of cowpoke blues.  A great late night buzz on each of the tracks harks back to the art punk of Television, "York Blvd.'s" sleepy dream hymns are brewed with smart minimalism, an occasional Hammond organ burning in the background as their minor key guitar noodles sting with patient insistence. by John Noyd
