FRANK BLACK AND THE CATHOLICS
Dog In The Sand
What Are Records
www.whatarerecords.com

Because of my occupation (or is it obsession) I've only purchased two new CD's in the last 3 years, The Go-Betweens' "The Friends of Rachel Worth" and Frank Black and the Catholics' "Dog In The Sand". Frank Black, you may remember, was the genius behind one of the greatest and most uncompromising rock bands of all times; The Pixies. You can hear the influence of the Pixies by turning on any "Alt-Rock" radio station. Ten years ago, when they were on the verge of superstardom, the Pixies broke up. But Black Francis, as he was known as, never left us. His songwriting skills have never been sharper and his guitar playing has never been better as "Dog In The Sand" proves. Frank Black is one of the Saints of Rock and Roll. by David A. Kulczyk
